Robin Couple

Original acrylic painting of two robins on a branch painted on a natural slate sourced directly from the Ballachulish quarry by myself.

The slate started its journey as a rough piece of one of Scotland's most wonderful places, which I then hammered to most pleasing shape to suit the artwork in my mind.

To make the colours on the slate as bright as possible, I first painted the shape of everything by white paint and then started the hours of layering the colours until I was happy with every detail, including the robin's nails

Two days later I varnished them and then again the day after.

The result is just gorgeous and I can't stop looking at them!

I am sure whoever will decide to give these robins a home will love them forever! Would make a beautiful thoughtful and unique Christmas gift for a loved one. 

Finished with two layers of acrylic gloss varnish and the artwork also comes with the display stand.

The size of the slate is approximately 165 x 150 x 5 mm
