Here is a very special, one of a kind oil painting of a perfect sunset behind Oban cathedral.

This was painted using traditional oil paints which take months to dry!

First I painted the base layer of the sky and the water with mixing linseed oil into the paints for smooth blending and then I let it dry for a few months.

I love the slow drying nature of traditional oils as I can spend as much time as my heart desires with moving and blending the paint without the fear of the paint drying anytime soon.

When the time came, I painted the dark outline of the cathedral, the hill, Isle of Kerrera and made the water look even more interesting with the additional ripples.

This artwork has a very dreamy effect and sometimes it almost looks like the sunset is in progress as the painting picks up any light that illuminates it and makes it often look different.

It is a wonderful large ish statement piece that would be suitable to hang above a fireplace, bed or perhaps in the dining room.

The sides of the stretched canvas are painted which gives it a contemporary feel and there is no need for framing.
